Did my employee rage quite or did I fire her? I'm 30 F super excited at my new job as a first time manager.
  • 03
I had an employee that was accepted for this position before I was working there but she started the job after I started mine.
  • 04
HR informed me she got the job because her husband lost his job and they have two kids, they felt sorry for her.
  • 05
She was fired 7 years ago from this same company because she simply didn't work.
  • 06
She didn't have work experience after getting fired from this one- her salary is for mid career range yet she doesn't know how to write a simple email.
  • 07
She worked for me for 4 weeks exactly, still under probation. This one time she was an hour late for work and I called to ask where she is and kindly requested if it's ok next time to let me know that she's running late. She cussed me out and said it's to tell her that she's late because it's non of my business, yells at me through the

phone that she quits. She Arrives to the office after to tell me that I don't know how to be a manager and that I'm not fit for the job because I should know that her attendance is not under my responsibility. "You call this being a manager? You really think you're doing a managers job?"

-I got the idea that she thought I wasn't an actual manager with actual authority because Im younger than her, she has expressed her thoughts previously by yelling at me that I'm not fit to be a manager and I don't know what I'm doing- other instances where she said that include - because I asked her "can you please not wear see through leggings and red sport shoes when meeting with clients"-

I calmly and quickly told her okay if you wish to quit your job let's go ahead and clear out your desk, got IT to take her work phone and laptop, a quick two minute handover -she doesn't do any work to begin with-

She started scrambling and wanted to wait for my manager the GM and HR head, I told her that's fine just send me your resignation email first which she did via her phone.
  • 12
HR and my manager call me in after and said the employee doesn't want to leave and she is begging to stay! - shocking
  • 13
She wanted to quit but begged all the upper heads to please keep her, she was shocked to learn that they don't have authority over that but me!
  • 14
They informed her to apologize to me and to ask me for the job back, she refused and they had to let her know a couple of times that they can't do anything.
  • 15
Next day I walk in to HR to fill out the job position requirements for LinkedIn and there she was, all messed up, bags under her eyes looking super defeated, begging HR to have her job back"
  • 16
she said "GM told me I need to apologize to you and that you're the only one who can give me my job back" "I don't want to leave I need the job" with no apology!
  • 17
I apologized and told her she's putting me in an awkward position and the answer is no. She said "I'm putting you in an awkward position?....ok" and she left.
  • 18
She told every single person that work there that I fired her instead of her just formally resigning. Edit: My bad it's spelled quit and not quite. In regards to labor laws I don't live in America.

Sitcom_kid YOU are the one who apologized to HER? What does she even work there, if she does no work? Which is my polite way of asking "Which person in charge down there is she dating?" ↑ 16 ↓ Reply Share indieOsam OP. She's besties with HR head, which is how she got the job AGAIN! but with this situation the HR head had to sit this one out

luckykrys She rage quit and even sent you a resignation letter. She thought she had power over you being buddy buddy with other leadership, but got awakening when a they refused to override your authority as her manager. By having her apologize to you, they were establishing your authority and she refused to fully accept it. Win win, they're probably relieved she's gone and I wouldn't be surprised if she was already constantly bugging them about you telling her what to do. They gave her a second

FreeYoMiiind lol I always say I'd never want to fire people, but I'd fire this lady twice. Why is HR so dysfunctional that they'd not only hire her back out of pity alone, but also would give her like 4 chances to stay employed after this circus act?
